Careers at a Liberal Arts College: A Panel Discussion with Ohio Faculty.
Ohio has a long history of fostering small, four-year colleges that focus on the liberal arts and sciences. Faculty positions at liberal arts colleges typically focus on excellence in teaching, but increasingly these colleges stress productive research programs that involve undergraduates. Our panel of four faculty from different liberal arts institutions in Ohio will discuss what attracted them to a liberal arts college, what are the challenges and rewards of the liberal arts environment, what role research plays at their institution, and what attributes and skills their institutions select for during the application and interview process for tenure track positions. A question and answer session will follow introductory remarks by each panel member.
